Post-Dam Fisheries Monitoring Strategy

Klamath Basin monitoring practitioners are collaborating to develop a holistic fisheries monitoring strategy that describes existing monitoring activities and critical gaps to be addressed that are critical to assess fish populations, restoration efforts, track progress towards the IFRMP core performance indicators, and inform management decisions to further benefit the Klamath Basin fish and fisheries during this post-dam era.  

Upcoming Strategy Meetings

May 14 and 15, 2025

Ashland, Oregon

Purpose: Coordinating and prioritizing fisheries monitoring in the Klamath Basin and creating a strategy to conduct necessary monitoring with efficiency and cost savings. 

This first meeting will serve to:

  • share information on ongoing monitoring activities,
  • exchange perspectives on the need to collaboratively develop a strategy that will document necessary monitoring activities (existing and new), 
  • discuss development of a 5-year monitoring strategy and whether the IFRMP Framework can be leveraged,
  • explore frameworks to identify new work that should be prioritized for funding.

  • develop an approach to support ongoing coordination among practitioners over the next 5-years.
  • identify participants to serve on Technical Steering Committee
